RTD and Jimmy Java Parcels

RTD owns the parcel on the northwest side of the property – home to the Broadway Light Rail Station. Since it is adjacent to the source area, Cherokee worked out an agreement with RTD to test their property. In early 2006, 12 monitoring wells were installed in the parking lot. The results showed very low detections of TCE with only one well, close to the I-25 South bound off-ramp, found to have a high TCE concentration. This information helps Cherokee have a better understanding of what’s happening with the source area and allows for a more focused attack.

The Jimmy Java site is a triangular parcel of land adjacent to the I-25 South bound on-ramp from Broadway. It is currently owned by CDOT. The purpose of testing on this site is to refine the extent of TCE and create a new injection area for enhanced anaerobic biodegradation remedial
efforts. A total of 12 wells will be installed. Work on this parcel began in February 2006.
